Neil Savery is Chief Executive of the Australian Building Codes Board, where he has championed improved access, awareness and understanding of the National Construction Code to help improve compliance and lift productivity.
Prior to this, Neil was a member of the Australian Building Codes Board for 11 years. This included during his period as the Deputy Commissioner of the Victorian Building and Plumbing Industry Commissions, where he was involved in developing a number of reforms resulting in the establishment of the Victorian Building Authority.
For eight years Neil served as the inaugural Chief Planning Executive for the ACT Planning & Land Authority where he was responsible for building and plumbing control, as well as designed and implemented what at the time were the most comprehensive planning reforms in the country.
Neil was the Executive Director of Planning SA, where he developed significant reforms to land use planning and before that he was the Director of City Planning and Special Projects at the City of Greater Geelong, where he oversaw the redevelopment of that city’s waterfront and CBD.
Neil holds qualifications in town planning, urban design and ecologically sustainable development, is a Registered Planner and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
